Land Survey Calculator – Convert Length, Area and Land Units Online
This land survey calculator is a free online tool for surveyors, civil engineers, architects, builders, real estate buyers and landowners. Type a value and it converts length and area units instantly, works out plot area from measured sides or from a chain of bearings and distances, corrects a slope distance to the horizontal, converts angles between degrees minutes seconds and decimal degrees, and calculates the value of a plot from the rate per cent, per square foot or per acre. It works on any mobile phone or computer, needs no installation and no sign-up, and every calculation happens inside your own browser.

Length • Area & Land • Value • Angles • Field tools
Land value
Enter the land area and the rate you were quoted. The total value is worked out instantly.
Typical quotes: per cent for house plots, per acre for farmland, per sq ft for town plots.
Degrees, minutes, seconds → Decimal
Type the angle exactly as written in the field book, for example 12° 34′ 56.78″.
Decimal → Degrees, minutes, seconds
Useful when GPS or the total station shows a decimal angle such as 10.581111°.
Plot area - three sides
Enter the three measured sides. The area is worked out with the standard survey formula, no angle needed.
Plot area - four sides with diagonal
Give the four sides in order (A, B, C, D) and the diagonal that joins the first and third corner.
Slope correction
A distance measured on sloping ground is longer than the map distance. This gives the horizontal distance and the height difference.
Plot area from bearings and distances
Enter each line of a closed traverse. Bearing is measured clockwise from north, 0 to 360 degrees. Type an empty line to ignore it.
Offset from a line
Distance of a point from a baseline, and its chainage from the first point. Give all values in the same unit.
Distance and bearing between two points
Use easting and northing in metres, or latitude and longitude in decimal degrees.

A land survey calculator is a tool that converts land measurement units and works out the areas used in land surveying. This one converts length and area units, calculates plot area from measured sides or from bearings and distances, corrects a slope distance, converts angles between degrees minutes seconds and decimal degrees, and works out the value of a plot from the rate per cent, per square foot or per acre.
One cent is 435.6 square feet, or about 40.47 square metres, and one acre is exactly 100 cents. One acre is also 43,560 square feet, 4,046.86 square metres or about 40.47 ares.
One ground is 2,400 square feet, one kuzhi is 144 square feet, one kani is 24 grounds (about 1.3223 acre) and one veli is five kani (about 6.6116 acre) in the convention used here. Kani and veli differ from district to district, so confirm the value written in your own document before you rely on it.
Split the plot into triangles where you can and use the three-sided option. If the land has many corners, run the boundary as a closed traverse with a bearing and distance for each line, then use the plot area from bearings and distances tool. A large closing error means one of the entries is wrong.
No. The results are for quick reference and for checking figures before a discussion. For registration, partition, boundary disputes or any legal purpose, you need a field survey and a signed survey drawing from a professional land surveyor.
